I would like to grow a tree that will produce fruit. I was told that planting apple seeds would not produce apples similar to the fruit. Is their any fruit tree that seeds are similar to the original? I live in New York so I would like a variety of fruit that will grow well in my area.

I have looked up the definition of both and this is the part I have trouble with. . . .

Fruit: an edible part of a plant that is generally sweet and juicy
Vegitable:a usually herbaceous plant grown for an edible part

I have been told that a tomato is a fruit and not a veggi, but by the definitions i’ve found, fruits also include cucumbers, green beans, squash, corn . . . almost everything is a fruit, and that can’t be right. . . . so whats the diffrence?

I was once watching TV and caught the tail end of a program that was about some kind of fruit that grows in Alaska and in rich soil of the glaziers. They were having a contest as who would be growing the largest of this fruit. I can’t remember the name of the fruit! Was suppose to grow very large and it had a pointy skin around it. I went to my local grocery store and had asked about it and they haven’t a clue.
Josh, I think you hit on something in refards to watermelon. I don’t remember it being that but could very well be a melon of some variety that grows up there? Tom

How do you avoid fruit flies in citrus fruit trees?

Julie A asked:

We’re just about to rent a property in Spain with an orchard of orange, lemon & grapefruit trees and I’m worried about fruit fly maggots infesting the lovely fruit. I’ve almost ended up drinking the little blighters once before - having juiced infected fruit before I knew of their existence - and I need to know how to ensure my own fruit is worry free, as I don’t want to waste it but also don’t want a repeat performance of my juiced nightmare! Please help! Thanks
